New league adds star power to Memphis' schedule
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Memphis will play two games each with two of the last three national champions in 2013-14, the Tigers' first season in the American Athletic Conference.
The Tigers' membership in the new league gives them two games each with 2011 national champion Connecticut and defending national champion Louisville. Memphis visits Louisville on Jan. 9 and hosts the Cardinals on March 1. Connecticut visits Memphis on Jan. 16 and hosts the Tigers on Feb. 15.
Memphis plays each of its nine AAC opponents twice for a total of 18 conference games, the most in program history.
Notable non-conference opponents include Oklahoma State, Florida and Gonzaga. Memphis hosts Gonzaga on Feb. 8, visits Oklahoma State on Nov. 19 and faces Florida at New York in the Jimmy V Classic on Dec. 17.
