Not Guilty Plea for Death of KY Student

By news admin

A Lexington man has entered a not guilty plea to a charge of murder in the shooting death of a high school student during a dice game.
Fayette Circuit Judge Kimberly Bunnell on Thursday set bond at $500,000 for 21-year-old Deionta Hayes, who prosecutors say killed 16-year-old Chaz Black, a Henry Clay High School student, in March.
Fayette Commonwealth's Attorney Ray Larson says the case might qualify as a capital murder case, with the death penalty as a punishment option.
Hayes and 21-year-old Dominique Godfrey were indicted this month on one count of murder, two counts of first-degree assault and one count of first-degree robbery. Hayes also was charged with being a first-degree persistent felon.
Godfrey has not been arrested.
