Officials investigating teen's suicide in jail
DANDRIDGE, Tenn. (AP) - Officials are investigating the suicide of a teenager at a juvenile facility in eastern Tennessee.
Department of Children's Services spokesman Rob Johnson says employees found 16-year-old Brandon Greene at about 8:37 p.m. Sunday and he died the next day at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville on Monday.
Greene had been in the Mountain View Youth Development Center in Dandridge since April. Johnson told the Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1oDxihJ ) that Greene had been taken into custody after his arrest in a burglary and vandalism at Johnson County High School in Mountain City.
Johnson says the hanging happened as inmates left their cells to shower Sunday night.
Greene's mother, Christina Greene, says her son was taken off suicide watch last week.
No Mountain View employees have been disciplined.
