Plane Crashes In North Mississippi
Tishomingo County Sheriff Glenn Whitlock says two people flying from New Orleans to Indianapolis had to ditch their plane into the backyard of a home off Mississippi Highway 25.
Whitlock says neither the pilot nor a passenger apparently suffered life-threatening injuries but were taken Tuesday to a local hospital for evaluation. He identified the men as 61-year-old Greg Huett and 33-year-old Seth Rainwater.
Whitlock says preliminary reports are that the plane was running out of fuel and was trying to make an emergency landing.
Authorities believe in an effort to make an emergency landing, the pilot side-swiped a couple of trees, knocking the wings off, and possibly saving it from hitting a nearby home.
Officials with the Federal The Federal Aviation Administration were to at the scene Wednesday.
