Police officer, father indicted in weapons case
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - The TBI has arrested the father of a suspended Covington police officer after indictments were handed up against both the father and the son.
Agents arrested Jack Shelton Hall Jr. on Monday, charging him with having 21 guns as a convicted felon and illegally voting since 2001.
Hall is the father of Sgt. Jack Shelton Hall III.
The officer was arrested in July after investigators said he had run a
stolen check on a handgun his father had illegally. The 41-year-old Hall III is out on bond.
An indictment this week charges the younger Hall with criminal
responsibility for conduct of a felon in possession of a handgun, official misconduct and misuse of official information.
The elder Hall, who is 61, was also indicted Monday.
