Post Master Sentenced for Stealing Funds
A former southwest Virginia postmaster will spend a year and a day in prison for stealing more than $34,000 from the U.S. Postal Service.
Fifty-six-year-old Cynthia K. Landore pleaded guilty in February to theft of public property and misappropriation of postal funds. Its reported that she was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Abingdon.
Prosecutors say the money was taken between June 2010 and July 2011 while Landore was postmaster at the Hiltons Post Office in Scott County. The Bristol, Tenn., resident admitted converting funds from the sale of money orders and stamps for her personal use.
