Scout Abuse Case Dismissed
A western Kentucky judge has dismissed two lawsuits claiming a former Boy Scout troop leader sexually abused two juveniles in the 1970s.
McCracken Circuit Judge Tim Kaltenbach's summary judgments entered Monday say statutes of limitations prevent the court from hearing the cases.
The lawsuits were filed against Grace Episcopal Church, the Episcopal Diocese of Kentucky, the Boy Scouts of America and Shawnee Trails Council of Owensboro.
The church sponsors Paducah Boy Scout Troop 1, of which the plaintiffs were members in the 1970s. Both plaintiffs claim a former scout leader who is not a defendant in the case sexually abused them while they were juveniles.
Portland, Ore., attorney Paul Mones, who is representing the plaintiffs, said Wednesday he plans to appeal the ruling.
