State Troopers Reinstated After Probe Cheating

By news admin

Seven state troopers disciplined for accessing or sharing questions on a promotions test have been reinstated to their old positions with their old pay.
The development follows a lawsuit filed in February in U.S. District Court in Mississippi's version of Troopergate.
Allegations of cheating followed the promotion tests for master sergeant, lieutenant and captain positions given in August 2011. Department of Public Safety officials disciplined fourteen troopers on Sept. 30.
Four chose to retire, and ten others received thirty-day suspensions without pay as well as demotions.
Nine troopers appealed their suspensions to the state Personnel Board, saying they never violated any orders and that it had been a common practice for troopers to collect questions from old tests to share as study guides.
