NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee State University's College of Agriculture is adding a new program in biotechnology.

The university received approval from the state Board of Regents to begin offering the concentration within a bachelor's degree in agricultural sciences.

School officials say the new program will train students in the modern field of biotechnology using the latest gene sequencers and other state-of-the-art equipment.

Career opportunities in that field include biomedical engineering, epidemiology, forensic DNA analysis and microbiology.
