Three-Hundred Pounds of Medication Disposed
Biloxi residents joined others statewide in turning over three-hundred pounds of expired or unneeded prescription drugs in a take-back program sponsored by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.
The Biloxi Police Department joined eight other law enforcement agencies around the state in accepting the prescription drugs Thursday.
The weight collected included packaging.
MBN Director Marshall Fisher said the collections ensure controlled substances are disposed of safely and don't end up in the hands of drug users or drug dealers.
He said the non-medical use of prescription drugs ranks second to marijuana as the most common form of drug abuse in America.
