RIFA's annual "Canstruction" gets a new home

By news admin

DOWNTOWN JACKSON -- An uncanny sight at the Old Hickory Mall will be departing this year.

RIFA announced on Tuesday the annual "Canstruction" competition will be moved from its usual location at the Old Hickory Mall, to the Carl Perkins Civic Center.

This is the 10th year of the competition that challenges teams to design sculptures made out of canned goods and non-perishable foods.

RIFA says its goal is to have at least 18 teams to help give back to those in need.

Officials say space is limited, and the deadline to sign up for the competition is Aug. 8. Sign up for the competition here http://www.rifajackson.org/canstruction/

The keynote speaker this year is Miss Kay from Duck Dynasty.
