Denny Hamlin injured hand in Bristol crash
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Denny Hamlin injured his right hand in the same crash at Bristol in which fellow Toyota driver Martin Truex Jr. fractured his right wrist.
Hamlin told SiriusXM Radio on Thursday night that he's wearing a splint on his hand because he was unable to free it from the spokes of his steering wheel before he spun in the Saturday night crash. The injury is near his thumb.
Hamlin, who missed four races earlier this season because of a fractured vertebra in his lower back, posted on Twitter "I'm fine y'all seriously."
Truex will race this weekend at Atlanta with a specially fitted cast.
There's been a rash of driver injuries this season: Bobby Labonte broke three ribs Wednesday in a cycling accident, and Tony Stewart is out for the year after breaking a leg in a sprint car race.
