Grizzlies' new bosses look for outside shooting
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - New Grizzlies' owner Robert Pera and his staff get their first opportunity to show what they can do in the NBA draft with little room to make a splash.
The Grizzlies go into Thursday night's draft with three second-round picks - Nos. 41, 55 and 60. Memphis traded its first-round pick, No. 26 overall, to Houston in 2011 as part of trade for Shane Battier.
Grizzlies officials will handle the draft if they haven't hired a coach. Lionel Hollins' contract was not renewed but the Grizzlies say they will make a "major announcement" Thursday morning. A person familiar with the situation has told The Associated Press that Hollins' former assistant Dave Joerger has been negotiating with the team to become Memphis' next coach.
