Memphis ready to make move up in American league
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - The Memphis Tigers remember the final 5 minutes of their first game against Connecticut only too well. The Huskies simply didn't miss turning a tie game into an easy win.
Now the 20th-ranked Tigers visit No. 24 UConn on Saturday, and Memphis coach Josh Pastner insists he sees only opportunity and not revenge.
Pastner says his Tigers have improved greatly since that 83-73 loss on Jan. 16. He wants his Tigers to play with the desperation UConn did when the Huskies came to Memphis.
The Tigers currently are third in the American Athletic Conference and will have a chance to push for the league title if they can survive their four road games down the stretch.
Senior guard Joe Jackson says being on the road is the challenge they need.
