JACKSON, Tenn. -- Most Tennessee Titan fans are just learning about Avery Williamson.

But in West Tennessee, no introduction is needed.

"It feels great to know that they actually look up to me and know about me. It's amazing. It's great to give back to the community," Williamson said.

A Bulldog at heart, Williamson's talents at Milan earned him a scholarship at the University of Kentucky. The strategic communications and marketing major told Operation Hope campers education is always number one.

"Be motivated in school and really have a dream. Whatever you want to do, just go for it and not half-heartedly. Go after it fully," Williamson said.

The former Bulldog has already made history as the first Milan player to get drafted.

"Sitting there and thinking about all the guys that came through the program of Milan. To be the first one is amazing. Like wow. It could be me," an enthusiastic Williamson said.

Williamson says he's happy he can visit his mother and be close to home. He said the proximity makes it much more likely we'll see him on the sidelines in Milan this season.

"I'm going to have to try to get to maybe one or two of them. I don't know when, but definitely one or two of them."
