Pastner wants to add Robert Kirby as assistant
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Memphis coach Josh Pastner has hired Robert Kirby as an assistant coach for the Tigers.
Pastner announced the hiring Tuesday, a move that must be approved by the both the university and the Tennessee State Board of Regents that oversees Memphis.
Kirby is a Memphis native who spent last season as an assistant to Johnny Jones at LSU. Kirby is considered one of the nation's top recruiters, and he has coached at seven different NCAA Division I schools, including Georgetown, Houston and Mississippi State.
Pastner said in a statement he is excited to have Kirby join his staff as one of the elite coaches in the country both in recruiting and coaching.
