Predators open camp ready to forget 'awful' season

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Goaltender Pekka Rinne is healthy and ready to hit the ice for the start of training camp, the best news the Nashville Predators could have asked for trying to bounce back from a rare losing season.

The Predators announced Wednesday that Rinne has been cleared to hit the ice with camp opening Thursday. Rinne will sit out the first couple preseason games and get the occasional day off through the season. But the two-time Vezina Trophy finalist is expected to be ready for the season opener Oct. 3 at St. Louis.

Forwards Colin Wilson and Paul Gautstad also have been cleared for training camp. Wilson had surgeries on both shoulders after a season-ending injury last March, and Gaustad had surgery on a shoulder too.
