Turning Over A New Leaf at Milan

Justin Walters

MILAN, Tenn. - Dexter Williams is no stranger to West Tennessee basketball.

"That was one of the toughest decisions I ever had in my life," explained Williams. "To step down as head coach at Liberty Tech."

As Liberty Tech's first head basketball coach, Williams led the Crusaders to back-to-back State Championships in fours years of existence.

Now, Williams has a new challenge.

"If you don't have any faith in yourself, how do you expect your teammates to have something in you."

Williams desire for education eventually resulted in him stepping away from the hardwood. The former Tigrett Middle School principal has a chance to do both at Milan.

Williams says balancing his role as head coach and district human resources director comes down to timing. Ultimately, he feels blessed

"I'm getting a chance to do two things I love under the capacity of helping people."
