Vols relying on Coleman to lead young cornerbacks
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee's Justin Coleman just might be the Volunteers most important player.
No, he isn't the most talented, but Injuries and defections have left Coleman as one of the Volunteers' only experienced cornerbacks. Coleman realizes the Volunteers are depending on him and it's changed his mentality. Coleman says football isn't a game to him anymore. It's more of a job that happens to be fun.
The junior must set an example for freshman cornerbacks Cameron Sutton and Malik Foreman. Sutton likely will start alongside Coleman in the Aug. 31 season opener with Austin Peay, and Foreman also should play right away.
Tennessee coach Butch Jones says Coleman must avoid complacency now that he has a starting spot locked up. Coleman believes that won't be a problem.
