MEDINA, Tenn. - Out of all the story lines that took place in District 13-AA last season, none was more interesting than South Gibson. The Hornets opened the year with four straight wins in their first varsity season then went on to make the first round of the playoffs.

"Our kids were so wide-eyed and didn't have a clue what Friday nights were about," Head Coach Scott Stidham said. "So going through the season and playing the tough teams they understand the urgency that we need to practice with now."

This year's senior class is the first to spend all four years with the Hornets.

"They're a special group of kids that have bought into our program and have great leadership," said Stidham. "They're 20 kids that are not only good players but great people."

The secret is out on who will be the go to players for South Gibson. Brothers Carlos and Quincy Walden were huge factors in last seasons success. Now, who will step up to help?

"It's the triple option. We don't know who's getting the ball. The quarterback decides every play," Stidham said. "That helps us and we have some other kids that can do damage when we get the ball in their hands."

Even though they have a strong set of skill players coming back, the offensive line could be the best in the district.

"I do feel were a lot better up front that we have been," Stidham said. "Because they're a year maturer in our weight program and the coaching staff that work hard with them."
