Generals and Smokies Postponed on Thursday

GENERALS NEWS RELEASE

The game will be made up as part of doubleheader on Friday at Smokies Park

KODAK, Tenn. (June 27, 2013) – Thursday night’s game in Kodak between the Generals and the Tennessee Smokies has been postponed due to rain and unplayable field conditions. Smokies Park was pounded by rain two hours before game time and left a large amount of standing water on the field. The Smokies and Generals will play a doubleheader, featuring two seven innings games Friday beginning at 4:00 p.m. (CT). Friday’s doubleheader will be the sixth played this season by the Generals and third at Smokies Park. In total, the Generals are 5-6 in seven inning games this season.

This was the fourth game of a five-game set between the two teams. Tennessee has won the first three and are leading the season series, 10-3. Jackson is scheduled to play Birmingham at home on Saturday night at 6:05 p.m.

Chance Ruffin (4-2, 3.38) and A.J. Morris (2-0, 4.24), who were scheduled to start tonight, are the probable starters tomorrow for the first game Friday. Anthony Fernandez (4-3, 5.55) and Eric Jokisch (5-7, 3.57) are slotted to start game two
