JACKSON, Tenn.- Mariners pitcher Erasmo Ramirez is set to begin a rehab assignment with the Jackson Generals, Tuesday night.
Ramirez, 22, is scheduled to start the first game of a five game home stand against the Huntsville Stars. Ramirez spent about half of the 2012 season with the Mariners. He pitched for the Generals in 2011.
Generals manager Jim Pankovitz said it was important for Ramirez to focus on his health while he Is here.
"I think it's going to depend on his performance and how he comes out of it healthwise. That's the reason he is here to build his arm strenghh back up after missing some time after an arm issue, but he will be here I imagine at least one or two innings," said Jim Pankovits, manager of the Jackson Generals.
Ramirez is recovering from an injured tricep. The first pitch at the Ballpark at Jackson goes out at 7:05 p.m.
