JACKSON, Tenn. - Generals infielder Stefen Romero put up impressive numbers at the plate in Single A.

He batted .357 with 11 home runs while driving in 51 total runs in the Midwest League this season.

Duplicating that success in Double-A won't be easy, but Romero is ready for the challenge. "It's all about routine, approach, and preparation," he said.

"The transition and playing the game isn't that difficult for the players, but obviously there’s a transition they have to make to play against better competition," said Generals manager Jim Pankovits.

Pankovits coached Romero during a few Double-A games in spring training.

Romero leads all Seattle Mariners minor league batters.

Romero’s promotion to Jackson is a reunion of sorts as he was teammates with several of the Generals in Clinton, Iowa last year.

"(Kalian) Sams, I played with a lot of these guys in Low-A Clinton last year to begin the season. Carter Capp, those guys got moved up. I know most of those guys, so I felt pretty comfortable," said Romero when asked about his promotion to Jackson.

Romero wasn't here for the celebration and run to the first half-title, so he wants to win the second half crown as much as anyone else on the roster.

It’s just one of his many goals.

"Win the second half, continue to play winning baseball, continue my routine and approach and just win a championship at the end of the year,” said Romero.
