Derrick Burroughs remembers the first time he crossed paths with
Jacoby Jones.

"I was the defensive coordinator at Clark Atlanta and I tried to stop him when we played against Lane. He still scored two touchdowns on us," Burroughs said.

Six years later Burroughs is now the head coach at Lane College.

Jones provided a proud moment for Coach Burroughs and the entire Lane College family with his standout performance in the Super Bowl.

Jones collected 290 total yards in Baltimore's win over San Francisco. The former Dragon wide out returned a second half kickoff 108 yards for one of his two scores.

"I'm trying to figure out how do you get a Super Bowl record for most yards and not be Super Bowl MVP," Burroughs said.

Jones's success has already had a positive impact on the Lane football program. Coach Burroughs said recruits contacted him to talk about Jones's performance Sunday.

'It is good for recruiting. It couldn't have happened at a better time with signing day around the corner. It kind of gives us a boost," said Burroughs.

Jones has also provided an inspiration boost for the current Lane College players.

"Most of these kids have dreams just like Jacob did," said Burroughs.
