UTM Women's Basketball to Host NCAA Tourney Selection Party

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin women’s basketball team will host an NCAA Tournament Selection Show Party beginning at 5:30 p.m., Monday, March 18, in the Skyhawk Fieldhouse.

Fans will get a chance to watch the NCAA Selection Show live on ESPN while listening in on a live “Skyhawk Talk” radio broadcast conducted by Chris Brinkley.

The NCAA Tournament begins on March 23 and possible first-round locations include: Baton Rouge, La.; Boulder, Colo.; College Park, Md.; College Station, Texas; Columbus, Ohio; Durham, NC; Iowa City, Iowa; Knoxville, Tenn.; Louisville, Ky.; Lubbock, Texas; Newark, Del.; Queens, NY; Spokane, Wash.; Stanford, Conn.; Storrs, Conn. and Waco, Texas.

The Skyhawks defeated Tennessee Tech Saturday afternoon at Municipal Auditorium to win the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament and claim the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year.

UT Martin is 19-14 on the year and is currently ranked 100th in the NCAA RPI rankings. The Skyhawks are the only team in the nation to boast two top-10 scorers in the nation in Jasmine Newsome (22.9 points per game, tied for fourth) and Heather Butler (22.0, tied for eighth).

Fans will also have a chance to purchase the brand new “3-Peat” OVC Tournament championship shirts and watch the season highlight reel at the event. Popcorn and drinks will also be available.
