The
Union Bulldogs defeated William
Woods 108-51 on Saturday to win
their season opener and David
Niven's first game as head coach.
Niven
replaced long-time head coach Ralph
Turner in the offseason.
After
the game was tied at 13 with 15
minutes remaining in the first half,
Union closed the half on a 45-9 run
to take a 36-point lead into the
break.
In
the second half, the Bulldogs led by
as much as 63 on two different
occasions before winning by 57.
Union
shot 54 percent from the field,
including 13 of 30 from behind the
arc.
Keith
Tolliver led all scorers with 22
points, and Samuel Danache scored 16
in his first game as a Bulldog. Alan
North added 13, and Greg Truvillion
scored 12.
Union
hosts Olivet Nazarene on Nov. 9,
tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
