TN Officials Push Immunization

Tennessee health officials say parents and medical personnel must all invest time and energy to be sure every infant in the state is properly immunized.

According to a news release from the Tennessee Department of Health, every $1 spent to immunize infants saves more than $10 that would have been spent on illness and even death from preventable diseases.

Children born in Tennessee today get protected from 14 different diseases through routine vaccinations by the time they are 2.

The department, observing National Infant Immunization Week beginning April 24, said parents, doctors, nurses and public health professionals must all work to make sure infants are fully protected.
