Milan Company Gets Solar Grant
A Gibson County business is taking a big step into the future, trying to transform itself from an energy consumer to an energy producer through solar power. Milan Compress Company, Incorporated, in a partnership with USDA Rural Development is receiving a renewable energy production grant through the Renewable Energy Production Grant through the Renewable Energy for America Program, or REAP. State and company officials said installation that produce solar power help create good jobs in the renewable energy sector. The 28.2 kilowatt system could produce more than 34,000 kilowatt hours of clean electricity per month meeting the energy needs of the company and sending surplus back into the electric grid.
