Leaders of Union University met Friday to discuss future plans for the school. The Board of Trustees for Union met to develop plans for a new library on campus, along with the launch of a new publishing project. Leaders also approved a record $89.4 million budget for the university for the 2011-2012 school year, a 10 percent increase from this year’s budget. School officials hope the location of the planned library will bring the campus even closer together. “It’s really going to be a crossroads for students, for faculty members and going to become a very central and focal part of our campus in the years ahead, said Tim Ellsworth, director of news and media relations with Union University. Construction on the new 60,000 square foot, $18 million library is scheduled to begin in a year and is expected to be completed in 2013.
