Jackson Municipal Elections

After an early voting period where more than three percent of voters took part, city leaders and election officials were hoping voters were waiting for election day to cast their ballots. But election officials are saying they have not been overwhelmed since voting locations opened, Tuesday morning. Election leaders said there has been a light turnout in choosing a mayor and city council members. The mayor’s race is uncontested, but there are contested races in Districts 1, 2, 5, 6, 8 and 9. The District 5 race has sparked some interest with in incumbent, Frank Nudecker being challenged by newcomer, Scott Conger. Polls remain open until 7, Tuesday evening.
