One of Henderson County’s long-time servants announced Thursday he will not be running for re-election this September. Mayor Bobby Dyer of Lexington said he has had the privilege of working for the city for more than 16 years and as mayor for four years. He says he wanted to get the news out early enough so that others would have an opportunity to consider running for the next term. Dyer said he feels he feels he has reached his goal of making Lexington a better community than when he first came into office. “It’s been quite an honor. It’s been an honor. I’ve always wanted to do something to pay back to the community and I’ve enjoyed serving as Mayor,” said Mayor Dyer Some of the mayor’s accomplishments include helping to bring two new industries, four major industrial expansions, and reducing the long-term debt by more than $4 million.
