By a vote of 6 to 3, with one abstaining, the board, Thursday night, selected Buddy White for the position. White currently hold the position of director of school operations and financial planning. Board members said they believe White is best suited to handle governing the school system until the position can be filled permanently. “The PPI that normally does the work of the school system are in place to carry forward, the programs more or less, that have been carried forward in the past until a new superintendent arrives,” said Buddy White, interim superintendent for Jackson-Madison County Schools. Board members also approved the 2011-2012 school year budget, which must now be approved by the county commission’s budget committee, which will meet, Friday morning.
