Haschke Case Heads to Grand Jury
A judge has added $50,000 to the bond of a Jackson man accused of beating and stabbing a co-worker after investigators say he tried to rape the man’s girlfriend. Gerhard “Jerry” Haschke, 40, appeared for his preliminary hearing, Thursday afternoon on charges of attempted murder, attempted rape and aggravated assault. After testimony, the judge upped his bond to $125,000 and bound the case over to the grand jury. Investigators said earlier this month, as one of Haschke co-workers and his girlfriend slept at his house, Haschke tried to rape the woman. The victim was allegedly beaten and stabbed when he tried to intervene.
