April 30, 2011 was just another day. But for Michael Jasper it was the day where his lifelong dream became a reality. With the 245 pick in the NFL Draft the Buffalo Bills selected the Bethel lineman. But unlike most others, his focus wasn’t souly on making it to the NFL. “I just focused on getting to college,” Jasper Said. “And once in college things took flight for me and I just tryed to make the best of it. Out of High School Michael committed to Ole Miss, but after the Rebels made coaching changes he then decided to go to UT Martin. two other schools followed. MTSU and then Bethel where he found a home. Just another part to his journey. “It added to my story and to my character as well,” Jasper said. “I love each one of the places Ive been to but God had a different plan for me and I made some bad choices but I have no regrets.” Its never come easy, hes had to work for what hes been given. Questions were raised about his weight, speed and that he couldn’t make it in the NFL. Just more motivation for Michael. “Every time I read an article talk about how big I am I lose 10 pounds, Jasper said. “Every time they say I’m slow I add 10 tenths to my 40-time. I love Naysayers they make me better. From 440 pounds to 375, hes in the best shape of his life and ready to begin a new chapter in his story. And prove he can make it. “I have a huge point to prove, Jasper said. “Since teams past on me since High School Ive had a chip on my shoulder but just didn’t know how to use it. I’m going to the NFL with fuel and fire and its going to be fun to watch. Now in the NFL he will be looked at differently. He will be a role model. For that he wants top give back to those who stood by him and share his story. “I went from a Child to a man,” Jasper said. “Ive come full circle in those years and its made for a great testimony and I cant wait to share it and give back to the community and be a role model to all of those kids. Tell those who have been told they cant, they can.
