Bemis Days Celebration
Now that a new, unnamed owner of the Bemis Mill has vowed not to tear down the structure, there is even more reason to celebrate at this year’s “Bemis Days.” The two-day event kicked off late, Friday afternoon at the Bemis Mill Village Museum. The Bemis community, built around the Bemis Mill, is steeped in history. You can still learn more about Bemis through stories and a narrated bus tour Saturday morning as a part of the festivities. “Life the way it was back in the 50s the world was a smaller place I guess and it wasn’t so complicated but we’d like them to get a picture of how it was back in the 1950s,” said Richard Fisher, chairman of the Bemis Museum committee. Music and festivities will continue until 9, Friday night and begin again Saturday morning at 9. There is no admission charge for Bemis Days, however donations will be accepted. Organizers also ask that you bring your own lawn chairs, if you plan to attend.
