THP Kicks off Governor’s Safety Campaign
Troopers with the Tennessee Highway Patrol are extending a hand of goodwill to law enforcement agencies that border the Volunteer State. The event is called, “Hands Across the Border” is part of the Governor’s Safety Campaign was held in neighboring Hazel, Kentucky. Along with the THP, nearly 50 law enforcement officers from nine different agencies, including the Kentucky State Police, the Calloway County, Kentucky Sheriff’s Department and the Henry County, Tennessee’s Sheriff’s Department were just a few of the agencies that participated in today’s event. Lieutenant Brad Wilbanks said it is participating that aims to put the brakes on reckless drivers statewide. “Fatalities were down for the last few years, we are trying to keep them down, said Lieutenant Brad Wilbanks with the Tennessee Highway Patrol. “There is now reason for anyone to die on a Tennessee Highway and we are going to do everything we can to get everyone’s awareness on that.” Troopers said the “Hands Across the Border” campaign continues trough June with additional kickoff planned at the state lines of Mississippi, Georgia and North Carolina.
