Police are turning to the public for help in solving a murder that occurred just before midnight Wednesday, June 15. “I think it’s a terrible tragedy,” said Clevan Davis, a resident of Humboldt. Investigators said Michael Nelson Brown, 21, was gunned down in front of a home in the 1300 block of Elliot Street. “He was pronounced dead later that morning,” said Assistant Chief Bill Baker of the Humboldt Police Department. Neighbors said Brown frequented the home on Elliot Street and they fear the shooting may have been gang related. “We’re certainly looking at the possibility that it is gang related, but as far as the specifics, I really can’t talk about that,” said Assistant Chief Baker. According to Brown’s mother, his wife is pregnant with his third child. She said he will be buried tomorrow in McKenzie. Police ask if you have any information regarding the shooting to call Humboldt Police at 731-784-1322.
