JEA Approves Lambuth Money
The Board of Directors for Jackson Energy Authority voted to approve $2.2 million towards the purchase of the former Lambuth University campus. After closing in June, local and state leaders have been working to transfer the property to the University Of Memphis for use as a satellite campus. Earlier this week, leaders with West Tennessee Healthcare added their $2 million contribution to the $8 million overall plan. The additional money is scheduled to come from the City of Jackson and Madison County. Both governments are expected to meet next week to place final approval on their contributions. The University of Memphis plans to begin classes at the campus this fall if all measures are approved.
