A Hardeman County woman is dead after a three-vehicle crash in Haywood County. The crash happened just before 11, Sunday night on the east bound side of Interstate 40 near Brownsville. The report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol indicated Janet Diffee, 58, of Middleton, was killed when the car she was driving slowed near the scene of an earlier crash. Investigators say her car was rear-ended by another car that failed to slow down, causing a chain reaction crash. Diffee’s vehicle then ended up in the median after clipping the driver of a motorcycle. The drivers and passengers of the other vehicles suffered what are believed to be non life-threatening injuries. The report indicates Diffee was wearing her seat belt.
