World’s Longest Yard Sale Opens

The World’s Longest Yardsale just keeps growing.

The event – also known as the 127 Corridor Sale – runs Thursday through Sunday along a now-675-mile route.

The sale was the brainchild of Mike Walker, the Fentress County, Tenn., Executive in 1987. The route has grown over the years and now begins in the north at Hudson, Mich., running south on U.S. 27 through Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee before switching to the Lookout Mountain Parkway in Chattanooga and continuing to Gadsden, Ala.

The intent of the sale was to give travelers a reason to take the scenic route and invigorate local economies in counties and towns bypassed by the interstate highway system.

The sale is anchored by the Fentress County Chamber of Commerce.

This is the 24th annual yard sale.
