Giraffe Joins Memphis Zoo

A baby giraffe is drawing attention at the Memphis Zoo.

The female named Wendy was introduced to the other eight giraffes in the herd Wednesday and zoo spokeswoman Tiffany Langston said she was accepted by them, according to The Commercial Appeal

The baby is 5-foot-6 and weighs 120 pounds. She was born to mother Marilyn and father Kenya on Aug.1 and was with only her mother until Wednesday.

Langston said Marilyn in a good mother and Wendy is her third baby. She also raised another baby after its mother rejected it in 2005.
