“I do believe they know who did this. They’re afraid to come forward,” said Captain Don Teal of the Martin Police Department. Saturday, June 18, police found Justin Parker, 22, dead inside the Hut Nut night club in Martin. A fight reportedly broke out about one o’clock that morning. Shots were fired and one struck Parker in the head. All of this happened right in the middle of the crowded club. “[There] had to have been numerous witnesses to this crime,” added Captain Teal. Parker’s cousin Adrian Oliver agrees with investigators. “It was over 200 people there and they act like they did not see anything. If it was one of their loved ones, they’d be ready to speak up,” said Oliver. He said at an early age Parker was arrested and jailed for aggravated robbery. “Life ended at 16 [for him]. That’s when he went to prison and he came home at 22. He hasn’t had a birthday on the streets since he was 16,” added Oliver. Oliver admits gang life may have taken his cousin’s life. But he still believes Parker deserves justice. “I just want to know who did it. I want justice to be served,” said Oliver.
