Reception Honors Outgoing United Way Chief
After more than three years at the helm of the United Way of West Tennessee, President and CEO Alan Turner is leaving. Wednesday, the United Way held a reception for Turner, who joined the agency in May of 2008. The United Way of West Tennessee currently serves 14 counties. Last year, the agency helped fund 87 different agencies and 130 of their different programs. Turner says increasing the service area and funding is one of his greatest achievements. “I’m proud we were able to expand the service area to include four more counties and turn the annual campaign around so that we could raise more money to reinvest in local programs in the areas of income, education and health,” said Turner. “It was also great to get more people involved. The volunteers in West Tennessee have been tremendous.” Turner’s last official day is Friday. However, he is staying with the organization. He is set to take over as CEO of the United Way of Southwest Alabama in Mobile.
