The Gibson County School District bid a fond farewell, Thursday, to the man who has led them for the past eight years. A retirement reception was held for outgoing Director of Schools Robert Galloway. Galloway joined the district in 2003, but has been in education for more than three decades. His last official day on the job was June 30. He tells us he misses the kids most because they were such an important part of his daily life. But he says he carries with him some wonderful memories and accomplishments. “We have had two state titles for the girls’ basketball team and our test scores have been outstanding,” said Galloway. “This year it was the best it’s ever been.” Galloway says during retirement, he looks forward to playing golf and traveling with his wife. The new Director of Schools is former Gibson County High School Principal Eddie Pruett.
