Lawmakers Facebook Account Hacked
State Rep. Ryan Haynes says an impostor posted fake material about the Knoxville Republican on his Facebook page last week.
Haynes told The Knoxville News Sentinel that he suspects his password was stolen during a visit to a library last week. The posts included what he called “a lot of colorful language,” and replacing his profile picture with a one of a panda.
Haynes says the impostor also sent rude and offensive messages from his account. The lawmaker said he received about 150 phone calls within 30 minutes to ask him what was going on.
Haynes said he eventually got hold of Facebook administrators, who deleted the impostor’s postings. In Haynes’ words: “Everything is straightened out now.”
