North MS Plane Crash Kills One
Authorities say a pilot from Tupelo was killed when a small plane crashed in a residential part of that city in northeastern Mississippi.
The coroner identifies the pilot as 69-year-old David Duncan. He was alone in the plane.
The Federal Aviation Administration website says the Cessna 310 is registered to Hamilton Air LLC in Hamilton, Ala.
Authorities say the plane crashed about 8 a.m. Wednesday, shortly after taking off from the Tupelo airport. It landed in a front yard of a home near the Tupelo Furniture Market.
Eric Williams, who lives in the home, tells the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal that he heard a loud boom and he thought someone had kicked in his door.
WTVA-TV reports the plane did not catch fire but was heavily damaged.
