Area Law Enforcement Leader Talk About the Dangers of Traffic Stops
The Madison County Sheriff’s Department said not a day goes by, that they forget what can happen when they turn on their sirens. National statistics show more than 45 percent of on-the-line duty fatality cases are caused by some sort of assault. Deputies at the Madison County Sheriff’s Department said all Tennessee officers are trained by the same rules and even though they often follow the correct procedures when conducting traffic stops, anything can happen. “Anytime you pull anybody over for a traffic stop, there is potential for danger. At the time we need to be in good physical shape and be prepared for the events that are on coming,” explained Lieutenant Cleven Davis of the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies also said they will not change their current traffic stop procedures any time soon.
