175 Soldiers from the 913th Engineer Company left Union City, Thursday morning and said their farewells to the families they leave behind. This is the second West Tennessee unit this week to leave for duty, after troops from Trenton left Wednesday. Both of the units will go through specialized training in Fort Bliss, Texas before being deployed overseas to Kuwait. The company is scheduled to be gone for about a year, and families say that day can not come soon enough. “He loves it. It’s changed his life. He’s always been so proud of being in the Army and I’m proud of him for doing it. It’s just like a long time, a year,” said military wife, Holy Pate. The Union City unit and the unit the left Trenton on Wednesday are both part of the 194th Engineer Brigade.
