Van Crash Injures Soccer Team

Authorities say five people, including three young girls, were injured when a church van carrying members of an adult soccer team overturned in north Mississippi.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports a 2-year-old has serious injuries and that a 6-year-old and a 10-year-old also are hurt.

Mississippi State Highway Patrol spokesman Ray Hall said Sunday that five people went to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo but none of the injuries appears life-threatening.

The van belongs to Oakland Baptist Church of Corinth, about 30 miles north of Baldwyn.

Church member Jeff Robbins tells The Associated Press it was taking the team to a match in Hamilton, Ala., when a rear tire blew out. He says the injured children all were girls and likely sisters or children of players.
