Cheer Coach Accused Of Theft

A state audit found a former cheerleading coach at Pigeon Forge High School and Pigeon Forge Middle School failed to turn over to the schools thousands of dollars from fees and fundraisers.

According to the Comptroller of the Treasury, Pamela Schleif kept at least $11,950 in cheerleading fees that were supposed to pay for uniforms, cheer camp and shoes.

Auditors also found that Schleif submitted less money from fundraisers to the high school’s bookkeeper than parents and cheerleaders said should have been available.

For instance, one pancake breakfast should have netted $1,700, but Schleif turned in only $260.

The findings were released to the public on Wednesday. They have been referred to the local district attorney general.

A phone number listed for Schleif in Pigeon Forge has been disconnected.
